OK, we’ve got VW tryin’ to knock off their own Beetle, the big three cranking out new knockoffs of the Mustangs, Camaro, and Challenger, and BMW knocking off a car they didn’t even design, the Mini. And now we have this:

dsc_2256-1024x678Which bears more than a bit of resemblance to this:

allis-chalmers_g_at_a_us_tractor_show

The first pix is of the “new” Oggun tractor, the “product” of an Alabama start up that just received the first U.S. license to build anything in Cuba since about the time when Castro came to power and shortly after Allis-Chalmers pulled the plug on the second pictured tractor, their G model, in 1955. Coincidentally, the original Allis G was built in Alabama, too. (Thanks to mydogivana – Flickr: Skeleton, CC BY 2.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=15048389 for the G model picture)

Wonder if the Allis “G” model collectors are feeling any prouder today?
