The campaign finance reports came out today, and I was amazed… Here I am running a hilarious low key campaign for a lowly legislative seat, and my republican opponent went whole hog and spent over $17k on his campaign to defeat me! Meanwhile, seeing this as a long shot race, I ran a thrifty campaign and spent only a bit over $3000 of the $10,000 in my campaign treasury. Sorry, I can’t spend that leftover $7k on motorcycles…

So one political party and candidate has spent $17,000 to keep me out of a job I don’t really want all that bad anyway- I mean, the legislature meets in Minnesota in the winter. The democrats and a state campaign subsidy have coughed up $10,000 to help me run in a district that democrats seldom win. OK politicos, I’ll offer you a deal: Republicans, just give me a new bike every election and I won’t run for anything, not even dinner. Democrats, give me a credit card for gas and I’ll creatively waste only half what was wasted on this long shot race.

Dang, I think that’s probably illegal… Can’t accept a payment to persuade a candidate not to run. But then again, if a new bike with a prepaid gas card were to magically appear in my driveway, I’d probably be ridin’ so much I’d forget all about politics…

Until 2016!
