Ain’t gone anywhere since sunday, a 90 mile round trip to Brookings to haul home 600 pounds of fuel for the biomass stove. Took the scenic route home, darn near got stuck in a snowdrift across a county road. Shoulda gone for a drive monday between storms, ’cause on tuesday an inch or two of forecast snow turned into eight inches. Roads were just starting to get decent when 40+ MPH winds appeared last night and stayed all day today, redistributing tuesday’s snow. Didn’t even try 2 wheel drive today, took the 4 by 4 Ranger a couple blocks to reconnoiter and plowed snow with the axles.
That “mountain” outside is a ten foot tall drift, had to shovel a bit in front of the window so the snow pressing against it didn’t melt and try to leak inside. Too windy to blow out the driveway, I ran the 4 by 4 through a few times to break the drifts and filled up the box with snow in the sheltered space by the house. Yup, we’re hauling snow, no place left to stack it!
After a no doubt weather delayed week coming from the left coast the parts for the airheads arrived the other day. I should put the ‘hack’d R80ST together first, but shop temps have dropped to the high 30s and when I open the door from the house to let some heat in, it has the opposite effect. So I think I’ll work on the GS first, being it’s warm and comfy right next to the biomass stove in the living room.
CDC, were gettin’ desperate…
