If you’ve been following the motopress at all, you know this is Ride To Work Day, FFI: http://www.ridetowork.org . But heck, why just ride to work… And if you’re following the trends, a lot of us aren’t working anyways. Yup, the Labor Department tells us that “labor force participation” continues to drop, and barely half us adults are still working. So we got time to ride, and if the weather’s bad we can put off the shopping trip or whatever for another day of nicer weather. And in general, the really bad (snow and icy) weather is in retreat, and most of us live away from the frozen tundra of the midwest now anyway. So but for a few days when winter makes a comeback, a motorcyclist can pretty much fill all there transportation needs with a two or three wheeler. Throw in the fact that riding is more fun than driving and you can buy two or three bikes for the price of a car… What’s not to like? And did I mention that families are getting smaller too? Yup, put a sidecar on and your bike becomes a small family “car”. And the money you save on car payments can be used to pay off the mortgage quicker so you can send the kids to college… Or get them into an apprenticeship and buy a new bike and retire!

Damn, I’m almost startin’ to get worried about the auto industry…
