Looked at the timing chain some more today, compared it with the new one, and decided it had some life left and decided I didn’t want to mess with it. On to the cylinders and heads tomorrow…
Received a suggestion that I need a “fleet manager”, yup, you’re right. So I might ask my “fleet manager” alter ego for some advice on, well, managing the fleet. But no, she’s not going to be given the authority to sell off the airheads and replace them with new Chevy Cruzes or even Ford Foci.
Meanwhile, ATHS claims to have straightened out the forum, but I doubt it. Those guys can’t help themselves. Few days back a prodigal member returns to the online forum and informs them that she’s been absent because she’s transgender and has transitioned from male to female. Nothing inflamatory, just informing the forum members of what’s new with her. The good ‘ol boys of ATHS went ballistic on her, and a forum moderator finally intervened. But did he discipline the good ‘ol boys for their hateful behavior? No, the moderator threw the transgender woman trucker off the forum! This woman’s been through hell, lost her truck, etc., and they dump on her… Suffice to say, I won’t be renewing my ATHS membership anytime soon. It gets worse… Today a former ATHS president called arab truckers visiting the Louisville Truck Show “rag heads” while bemoaning the chinese vendors at the show. Well, if he wants to create more american jobs, calling potential international customers for american products disrespectful names is not the way to do it. Scarier yet, this guy is a VP of a major US trucking firm when he’s not busy perusing “bikini” web pages. No wonder women aren’t exactly flocking to the truckin’ biz…
Fortunately for all involved, the post in question has been deleted.
wow…but then i’m not really surprised. I’ve only been on the ATHS forums a few times and before I ever posted or said anything I had to kiss somebody’s butt first, two or three times. Lot of big ego’s I guess.
My niece, who is white, starting dating a black guy she worked with and her parents practically disowned her. Took her car, threw her out-it’s crazy.I told her she was welcome here with anyone, anytime. She lived with my son for a while and has now moved back home.
That’s why I like the BMT forums-everybody gets along. Sure, there’s joking and criticism by some about too much non-truck related stuff (guilty) but everybody’s got a love for trucks in common and are regular people, working people more likely to drive a truck or own a truck than to own a fleet of trucks.
