Any old time gearhead has heard and probably read (we are capable of that too, and some of us, this author excepted, can even write passibly) the word “transmission” shortened to “tranny”. Or the plural, as we had a baker’s dozen of them at the Airhead Tranny Tech Weekend, “trannie”.

Now we gearheads should have had the foresight a few decades ago, before the internet became available in every basement and other venue, to trademark the words “tranny” and the plural thereof. Because over the ensuing decades of world wide webbing the porn industry and other lowlifes have taken hold of the word “tranny”. It’s gotten to the point that transgender folks, who in fact used to occasionally refer to themselves as “tranny” or “trannies” have banned the term. In some internet forums you’ll even get lifetime banned for using the term, such is the level of PC in the virtual world of transgender politics. I know, I’m one of the banned…

Now imagine if we’d copyrighted the term “tranny”… We’d haul the porn industry into court for copyright violation. Then we’d make an out of court class action settlement with the porn industry… something along the lines of free access to ever pay-for-porn website on the ‘net for life for every gearhead. And for us high-minded Airheads (LOL) who don’t peruse porn, free access to every online manual, parts book, and vehicle registration database ever created!

So until further notice, or maybe until I forget about it, “tranny” will be the official term for “transmission” here at GearheadGrrrl.com. Good thing I’ve never used the term “dipstick”…
